My husband and I decided to take a long Sunday drive last weekend and made a stop at the Appalachian Brewing Company in Harrisburg, PA. (FYI – this is the first microbrewery in the city). I was pretty excited particularly because I absolutely love their ginger beer.
We decided to make a stop for an early dinner and – of course – first order for me was a ginger beer. Don’t let the cloudiness deceive you… The drink is completely infused with the spicy ginger flavor.
My husband ordered the Rutty Buck Pumpkin Ale and loved it. He said it was pretty mild and had great taste of spice.
We started with the BBQ wings. They were very mild (not spicy) with a sweet BBQ sauce. We don’t do spicy so well. They had a nice crunch and completely covered in a root beer BBQ sauce.
Next, it was time to carb load and eat :). My husband ordered the Mile High Meatloaf. I, of course, snuck a bite. The meatloaf was really tasty and on top of mashed potatoes and a big piece of Texas toast with gravy. On top, there were fried onion strings. It was delicious. If you don’t like onions, reconsider this dish as it has a lot of onion flavor. As you know, I love onions.
I had a real hankering for a burger. I ordered their Harrisburger with pepperjack cheese. Fries or homemade chips came with the burger and I opted for the homemade chips. The burger was great and cooked to my request. The pickles on the side were also delicious. The handmade chips were garlicky. Craveable for sure. I was only able to eat half but my husband enjoyed the rest for lunch the next day 🙂
Check out the cute mark on the top of my burger bun.
Before we left, we stocked up on the hand crafted sodas – root beer, white birch beer and ginger beer. Cases to go and enjoy at home. Which is exactly what I did… Root beer floats 🙂
I definitely recommend the Appalachian Brewing Company! Let me know about your experiences and favorite dishes!
